# How to create changes

Effective change management is crucial for minimizing disruption and ensuring smooth transitions within your organization. Atomicwork offers a comprehensive suite of tools to help you standardize, automate, and gain visibility over your entire change lifecycle. These features empower your teams to manage changes with greater control, efficiency, and collaboration.

Please note that change control processes are available only in IT workspaces.

Employees can raise changes when an admin enables **Raise change** on a specific change template and grants access to the employee's user segment.

## Initiating a new change

Agents, admins, and eligible employees can initiate changes based on the templates and requester settings configured for the workspace.

### Create a change as an agent or admin

- Click **Create > Request a change.**

- Choose **workspace name** (only IT workspaces are listed because change control is available only in IT workspaces) and [the change template](https://support.atomicwork.com/en/articles/12284035).

- Fill out the change form in the template.

To associate a change with an employee, search for and select the employee in the **Requester** field.

### Raise a change as an employee

- Click **Create > Raise a change.**

- Select one of the change templates available to your user segment.

- Fill out the form fields that are visible or editable for requesters. Required fields must be completed before submitting the change.

When an employee raises a change, Atomicwork maps the requester to that employee.

To clone a change, click on the **menu at the top right** of any change and select **Clone change.**

### Understand what requesters can do

Employees can view the changes they raised, update attributes they have access to, and send public replies. They cannot start or close stages, receive assigned tasks for the change, or view private notes.

### Track changes as an employee

Employees can find only the changes they created through Spotlight search and the **Changes** tab in the **Created** global view. Changes where they are mentioned appear in the **Changes** tab in **Mentions**.

## Gain comprehensive oversight with the unified global change calendar

Maintain a clear view of all change activities across your organization with the Unified Global Change Calendar. This feature provides a centralized dashboard for better planning and coordination.

- **Org admin visibility:** Organization administrators have full access to this calendar, offering a holistic perspective on all ongoing and upcoming changes.

- **Consolidated view:** See all changes from every workspace in a single, easy-to-understand calendar format.

- **Quick drill-downs:** Access detailed information about any change instantly with a single click directly from the calendar entry.

You can access this Global Change Calendar on the left navigation bar between **My actions** and **Workspaces**.
